At the age of 7, Beyonce was attending dance school and had a position of soloist in her church choir. She went on to win over 30 dance and singing competitions.
Beyonce won the title of Songwriter of the Year in 2001. In 2003, she released her first solo album: Dangerously in Love. This album became platinum in three weeks and has sold over 11 million copies worldwide. In 2004, Beyonce won five awards at the Grammy Awards including: Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Her second solo album: ?B-Day? was released in 2006 and coincided with her 25th birthday. This went straight to number one which meant it was her highest first week sales as a solo artist.
Beyonce formed a group with her former greatest friend: LaTavia Roberson, Kelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett. They performed in their backyards until they got their break in the show; Star Search. They lost the competition but Beyonce?s father decided to quit his job and help them reach fame. In 1998, Destiny?s Child released ?No, No, No Part 2? which went in the Billboard top 10. Despite LaTavia and LeToya leaving Destiny?s Child, the group became the most successful group in the 2000?s. They have had 4 number one hits, two number one albums and several top 10 hits. Their songs include; ?Bills, Bills, Bills?, ?Say My Name?, ?Jumpin Jumpin?, ?Survivor? and ?Bootylicious?.

In 2002, Beyonce starred in the film: Austin Powers in Goldmember and starred in The Fighting Temptations in 2003. In 2006, she starred in Pink Panther alongside Steve Martin. Her latest film work was in Dreamgirls which was loosely based on the Motown female group The Supremes. This resulted in Beyonce being nominated for two Golden Globe Awards, and the film being nominated for eight and winning two Academy Awards.
