Britney Spears is most popular for her singing career. It started when she joined the television series The New Mickey Mouse Club at the age of 11, along with other stars like Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
Britney's first album was released in 1999 and sold 25million worldwide. She became one of the biggest pop stars of her time and was named by the media as the Princess of Pop.
Britney was signed by Jive Records in 1997 and the next year released her debut single, Baby One More Time. The single became an international success selling over nine million copies worldwide, and was ranked 25th on MTV's 100 Greatest Pop Songs of all time.

Britney's second album, Oops!...I Did It Again, was as successful as her first album and even broke the SoundScan record for the highest album sales in its debut week.
Britney's third album, titled Britney, and fourth album, In the Zone, made her the only female solo artist in music history whose first four albums debuted at number one. Her single Toxic, from her fourth album saw her win her first Grammy for Best Dance Recording.
Britney was named the world's most powerful celebrity in 2002 by Forbes Magazine due to her huge success.
She has also appeared as an actor, her first starring role being in the 2002 Crossroads.
Due to Britney being so iconic and popular she became the face of Pepsi. She has also released her own range of fragrances and had her own reality television series, Britney & Kevin: Chaotic.
Privately Britney had a four year relationship with fellow pop singer Justin Timberlake which ended in 2002. Then in January 2004 Britney married her childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in Las Vegas, which lasted 55 hours and ended in an annulment.
Six months later Britney announced her engagement to Kevin Federline after only being together for three months. The beginning stages of their relationship were filmed for Britney's reality television series, Britney & Kevin: Chaotic.
Britney has two sons with Kevin, Sean Preston Federline born in 2005, and Jayden James Federline born in 2006. After stating there were irreconcilable differences Britney filed for divorce, and asked for both physical and legal custody of their children, with visitation rights for Kevin. Kevin responded with seeking physical and legal custody too. Since this Britney has had many personal difficulties which the media has captured like shaving all her hair off and attacking the paparazzi.
Kevin Federline resides to have sole custody of the children after Britney failed to take regular drug and alcohol testing, parenting counselling and rarely showed up in important court hearings. Britney's visitation rights have now been suspended indefinitely until the custody case goes to trial in April 2008.
