Firth had his first appearance in the film A month in the Country and then as the lead role in Valmont.
He has had many other roles in movies like The English Patient, Fever Pitch, Love Actually and The Importance of Being Earnest.
He became widely known but it was only after he starred as Fitzwilliam Darcy in the television adaptation Pride and Prejudice that he became a heart-throb. He then went on to play Mark Darcy in the movies: Bridget Jones?s Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
He has had many other roles in movies like The English Patient, Fever Pitch, Love Actually and The Importance of Being Earnest.
In 1990, Colin had a son Will Firth with his partner at the time Meg Tilly. He married Livia Giuggioli in 1997 and they have two sons together: Luca and Matteo.
