Geri was brought up as a Jehovah's Witness in Watford, Hertfordshire. Geri first found fame as one of the five members of the girl group the Spice Girls, the most successful girl groups of all time. She was named Ginger Spice since of her red hair with blonde highlights. She wore sexy outfits and attracted much attention to herself and the group, and became known for her independent and feminist attitude.
Geri has released two autobiographies, If Only and Just for the Record, detailing her rise to fame and her celebrity lifestyle. She has also released two Yoga DVDs Geri Yoga and Geri Body Yoga.
On May 30, 1998 Geri left the Spice Girls to pursue a solo career. She released her debut solo album Schizophonic, with lead single, Look at Me in 1999 and followed up with her second album, Scream If You Wanna Go Faster in 2001.
This included her cover version of the Weather Girls' 1983 hit, It is Raining Men, which became a huge hit, selling over 4 million copies worldwide.
