Jamie Foxx is an American actor, singer, and stand-up comic. It was whilst doing stand-up that Jamie Foxx decided to change his name as he found out female comedians were often called out first to perform.
However Jamie Foxx's standout performance was his portrayal of Ray Charles in the biopic, Ray, in 2004 for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor. Jamie Foxx is also the second male and the first African American in history to receive to acting Oscar nominations in the same year for two different movies.
Jamie Foxx first took to our screens on the television series, In Living Color, in 1991. His first major movie appearance was in the 1999 film, Any Given Sunday. He was later nominated for an Academy Award for his role in, Collateral.

As well as acting Jamie Foxx is a musician and singer. He has released two studio albums, 1994, Peep This, and 2005, Unpredictable which was successful debuting at number two in the Billboard 200. Jamie won two BET Awards in 2006 for Best Duet/Collaboration with Kanye West for Gold Digger, and Video of the year. Jamie Foxx also received four Grammy nominations.
In September 2007 Jamie Foxx received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
