Jessica took part in a church choir for many years and was signed by a Christian record label. After the label folded she took a year out to tour her album and even sold copies after the shows. Luckily she was found by Columbia records who saw she had potential and signed her.
Throughout 2003, she appeared in ?Newlyweds? with her ex Nick Lachey. In this programme she made it apparent that she was the typical dumb-blonde, however, it is not sure whether this was put on to gather the ratings.
Her first album ?Sweet Kisses? was a success in 1999. She won two Teen Choice Awards for Choice Breakout Artist and Love Song of the Year, which she performed with her boyfriend (at the time) Nick Lachey. Her second album ?Irritable? sold more copies than her first but was not a huge success.
Throughout 2003, she appeared in ?Newlyweds? with her ex Nick Lachey. In this programme she made it apparent that she was the typical dumb-blonde, however, it is not sure whether this was put on to gather the ratings.
Her third album ?In This Skin? proved to be a big hit as it ran alongside the series ?Newlyweds?. However, in 2005, Jessica and Nick announced they had split.
Jessica had her first movie appearance as ?Daisy Duke? in ?The Dukes of Hazzard? in 2006. Her song ?These Boots Are Made for Walkin? which accompanied the film, won the People?s Choice Award for Favourite Song From a Movie.
