About:
Kanye West started after he dropped out of University. He started to concentrate on his music career and started producing for local artists which led to bigger hip hop/R&B artists including, Jay-Z, Mobb Deep, The Game, John Legend and Alicia Keys.
Then in 2002 Kanye West was involved in a near fatal car crash which was inspiration for his first single, Through the Wire. He then went on to create his first album, The College Dropout, which was extremely successful selling around 4 million worldwide and going two times Platinum.
Kanye soon became a major name in production but people were reluctant to give him a record deal as he wasn't your stereotypical rapper and not as marketable.

Kanye West has since released two more albums, Late Registration, which went three times Platinum and Graduation which went two times platinum.
Overall Kanye West has won numerous awards including 5 BET Awards and 2 BET Hip Hop Awards, 2 Billboard Awards, 1 BRIT Award, 5 MOBO Awards and 10 Grammy Awards to name but a few.
On 10th November 2007 Kanye West's Mother, Donda West, passed away due to complications from cosmetic surgery. Kanye has since performed his tribute song, Hey Mama, at his concerts.
