Kate started her career on television in 1991, staring BBC Children?s programme Dark Season, she also appeared in Anglo-Saxon Attitudes in 1992 and was in an episode of Casualty in 1993.
Kate has earned herself many awards during her acting career including one BAFTA award and a GRAMMY award. She has also been nominated for five Oscars and five Golden Globe Awards.
In 1994 Kate had her first movie appearance starring in Heavenly Creatures as Juliet Hulme. In 1997 Kate starred in the massive hit Titanic alongside Leonardo Decaprio. The film holds the record as highest-grossing film in history at more than 1 billion dollars in box-office worldwide. When Titanic was released Kate became famous world-wide. Kate has had several more film and studio roles since including 'Flushed Away'.

Kate Winslet was married to director Jim Threapleton and had a daughter together, Mia Honey, before the divorced in 2001. Kate is now married to Sam Mendes and they have a son together, Joe Alfie.
