Mariah Carey went on to create 10 more studio albums some not as successful as others. Mariah's 10th album was released in 2005, The Emancipation of Mimi. It became the best-selling album of 2005 in the US, and earned Mariah a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album.
Mariah Carey was signed after she met Columbia Records executive at a party, this became the start of something big. Mariah released her first record, Mariah Carey, after co-writing the tracks in 1990. The number one was hugely successful. reaching number on in the US Billboard 200 chart and remained there for several weeks. The album created four number one singles and shot Mariah to stardom.

Mariah married her music executive Tommy Mottola in 1993 to later divorce in 1998. Mariah also dated singer Luis Miguel from 1998 until 2001.
