Shakira is a Colombian singer/songwriter, record creater, dancer and instrumentalist. Shakira's first record, Magia, was recorded in 1991 when Shakira was only 14, and wasn't very successful.
Shakira's first English album, Laundry Service, was very successful and reached the top three in both the US and UK charts. Shakira had two successful singles from the album, Whenever, Wherever, and Underneath Your Clothes.
Between 1995 and 2000 Shakira concentrated on making it big in Latin America and Spain which she did with the release of her third studio album, Pies Descalzos.
Shakira's first English album, Laundry Service, was very successful and reached the top three in both the US and UK charts. Shakira had two successful singles from the album, Whenever, Wherever, and Underneath Your Clothes.
Shakira's second English album, Oral Fixation Vol.2 created the smash hit single, Hips Don't Lie, which was collaboration with rapper Wyclef Jean. The single is Shakira's most successful to date and per Media Traffic it is the second most successful song since 1998 behind Cher's, Believe.
Shakira has stated that she will be starting on her new album from February 2008.
Shakira is currently engaged to Antonio de la R?a, the son of the president of Argentina.
Shakira is well known for her dance moves in her videos and on stage, particularly her belly-dancing.
