Sir Ian McKellen is an English actor. His career started on stage in the theatre.
Sir Ian Mckellen is possibly greatest known for his role in the extremely successful Lord of The Rings adaptation as Gandalf.
Throughout Ian McKellen's career he has had various different movie appearances, the first being in the 1969 film, A Touch of Love, and since he has starred in numerous successful movies including, The Da Vinci Code, X-Men, and its sequels, Richard III, and The Golden Compass.

Sir Ian Mckellen came out in 1998 as gay and become a founding member of one of the United Kingdom's most influential LGBT rights groups, Stonewell.
