About:
Stephen Gately is an Irish singer who rose to fame in the nineties as part of the popular boy group Boyzone.
As well as a pop career Stephen Gately has taken to the stage appearing in productions like, Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
In 2000 the group decided to go their separate ways and Stephen started his solo career. Stephen was the first to release his debut solo single and album, New Beginning.
As well as a pop career Stephen Gately has taken to the stage appearing in productions like, Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
In 2007 Boyzone announced a re-union tour was to take place throughout 2008.
It wasn't until 1999 that Stephen Gately went public about his sexuality. He gave his story to The Sun newspaper after he feared a former member of Boyzone security was going to sell the story.
Stephen met Andrew Cowles through Elton John and they held a commitment ceremony whilst on holiday in 2003. In 2006 they entered a civil partnership.
