Wayne Rooney

About:
Rooney was the youngest goal scorer in the Premiership when he was 16, this was while he was with Everton F.C. He then won an award in 2002: BBC Sports Young Personality of the Year.
Rooney faced a difficult time when he broke the fourth Metatarsal on his right foot and thus there was a possibility he would not be able to play in the 2006 World Cup. When England played Trinidad and Tobago, Rooney to his delight replaced Michael Owen in the second half of the game. Rooney started when England played Sweden in the final group match. To Rooney?s dismay, Steven Gerrard took his place in the 70th minute.
He then became the youngest player to play for England. The first match he played was against Australia, a friendly match in 2003. He was 17 years and 111 days old, this has been broken since by Theo Walcott in the World Cup in 2006. Rooney is also the youngest England goal scorer.

The character Callum Watson from Footballers Wife is based on Rooney himself and Alan Shearer is Rooney?s childhood hero.
